Indian
Health Service (IHS)
The IHS ensures a comprehensive health care delivery system for American
Indians and Alaskan natives, including water related activies.
IHS constructs safe water supplies and sanitary waste disposal systems for eligible American Indian and Alaskan native communities, helps tribes develop and adopt sanitary ordinances/codes, and works to alleviate unsafe water supplies and inadequate waste disposal facilities.

The National Institutes of Health is the steward of medical and behavioral
research for the nation. It is a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)
Human health and human disease result from three interactive elements:
environmental factors, individual susceptibility and age. The mission of
the NIEHS, one of 27 NIH institutes, is to reduce the burden of human illness
and dysfunction from environmental causes by understanding each of these
elements and how they interrelate.
